The Blender Shoppe is going well, and almost done.
This week started out pretty well. My store's building is set-up, and I've got a general idea on how the interior will be. However, I wanted to make sure there are shelves and cabinets to place my "Models" on.
At first, I wanted to make this place look gritty, kinda like a Noir Style antique shop (something like the one in Gremlins.) I was also thinking that it should be clean and new, like a museum or a phone store. What I do know, is I want the feel of a local shop, so I visited the local shops in Poulsbo, WA for some inspiration. One of the things that I noticed was, they don't have matching shelves. They looked like they were bought from garage sales. There was also a few glass cabinets and display units.
So, I started a new project to make cabinets. After making three of them, I ran out of ideas. When I placed them into the store, I realized they could be duplicated and scattered around the store. I also started on the OPEN sign that my son originally wanted me to make. It was fun, learning how to work with curves, and I also learned how to create decorative trim. Once I'm done setting up the store, I plan on adding trim,
Finally, I noticed how much empty space throughout the store. Even if I created extra pieces of furniture and scatter them around I don't have enough pieces of work to fill the store. (Yes, I realize that I will be making more, and it can grow as I do.) So, I decided to make the store smaller, and added in the recessed door. That part was the most difficult, since I had to also work with the windows. It took a good two hours to get it right, and then I had to re-arrange the interior all over again.
My goal is to complete this by next week, but I still have a small list of what needs to be done. There is only three things on that list so far, but it fluctuates depending on what get's finished, and how it looks.
