I started the secret project this week. At this point in time I'm going to designate it the Present from here on out.
What I can say, except that it's a character model, but it's not a human. With that being said I don't have front and side photos to help model, so I decided to begin with sculpting the base. I used a three/quarter view as a subject, and sculpted a 4 meta-ball mess.
After sculpting the head and body, it donned on me that I have to remodel the subject so it can be more workable after the fact. I did some research on YouTube, and found a useful video on wrapping a new mesh around the old. While the set-up seemed complicated, the workload seems pretty easy. So, I got to work remodeling and forgot how I needed to finish the arms and legs. When I realized that, I rushed through modeling the rest of the Present, arms, legs, hands and feet.
As of this blog, the Present is 85% sculpted. The legs and feet can uses some T.L.C., but the face is remodeled and looks awesome. I don't say that very often, so I'm scared when it comes time to hack it apart again. My goal is to remodel the entire Present next week.
