A week left, and so many distractions

As the month is coming to a close, I thought my Blender Shoppe's deadline was due. I kept weighing the pros and cons of extending it, and bouncing back and forth between the little details. Then, I realized that I mentioned it in a previous blog, looked it up and discovered that this project was started on May 5th. So, I'm still on track and I've got a week left.

This project has really ate up my attention. Not saying that it's a bad thing, but there were hours of learning new things, and understanding why and how they work. For example, I decided to use a stucco texture for my walls so they would have some depth and texture, but the Stucco texture was not the color I wanted. So, I tried to add an "Input RBG Node" along with the original image texture. It appeared to do the trick, so I carried on and got to work on lighting. Two days later, I noticed that my store was to bright so I lowered the lights within the model, but nothing happened. There was a light coming from somewhere. I combed through the scene, all the objects and the environment, but I didn't find anything. I thought maybe I was seeing things or maybe it was the monitor, but when I rendered a frame it was still too bright. I couldn't take it anymore, I broke it down again; turned off all the lights, removed the furniture, everything was out except for the main walls. After creating a cube and moving it around I discovered that it was my textured walls. Some how, that Input RBG Node was creating an artificial light from the walls. Even though it was a valuable learning experience, I'm not sure if I can afford an issue like that if I begin doing this for profit. Time is a valuable commodity, and I have to make sure I'm spending it wisely.
So, what's left? Minor aches and pains. Some of the furniture is still not properly colored. The rug needs a little TLC. My large glass display could use some lights of my large model. Finally, I still have a lot of open space. P.S.: I was thinking of creating some signs, and notes to place on or around the objects. But that might be a future idea, when I've got more experience under my belt.
On a final note. I did get a job from a family member. It's not paid of course, but it is an outside task that challenges me. He wants me to print a 3D model of a character from a popular video game. Granted, I'm not actually printing it, I'm just modeling it. Due to lack of time, I found a base model online and I'm making some adjustments so it could be posed before the 3D printing processed. Also, I'm talking with a friend on how I can create a business model/plan so I can really start promoting myself, and earn a little money on the side.
